I’m a Little Monkey

I'm a Little Monkey is a children's book I developed as part of my MA course. Please follow this link to read about the ideas behind it and check out my successful Kickstarter campaign!

It's a simple rhyming tale about a boy who meets a group of squirrel monkeys at a zoo, and together they cause mischief and mayhem - much to the distress of the zookeeper! My aim for the story was to encourage exploration, and celebrate what children can learn through play.

I was thrilled that my book was Highly Commended by the Macmillan Prize 2017!

Leo’s Lost Donut

This 32-page children's rhyming picture book was the final project I worked on for the my BA Illustration degree back in 2013! The story is about a silly baker named Leo (who loses track of one of his donuts), and an assortment of mischievous animals who may have something to do with the donut's disappearance...

The medium was watercolour and pencil crayon (on relatively labour-intensive paper cutouts)! I also created a 15cm plush prototype of Leo, to accompany the book, that I believe still haunts the illustration corridors at UCLan.

I've learned a lot since, but the project sparked an interest in rhyming stories (it led onto me working on a rhyming book called I’m a Little Monkey about for my MA in Children's Book Illustration). I also still have a soft spot for Leo, and often find he still crops up in my work.

Bramble Wood is a children's interactive activity book, based around a cute woodland theme. The book was created in 2012, as part of my BA Illustration course at UCLan.

Design Futures

In my final year of my BA Illustration course at UCLan, I created a book for my final 'Design Futures' (DD3000) essay. The illustrated essay reflected upon my work so far, explored my own philosophy on illustration, and outlined my aims for my final year and beyond.
